Class of 2018
I thought that it would be excellent preparation for an independent college life abroad.
Why did you choose to attend ISAK?
ISAK is a first-of-its-kind boarding school in Japan. It’s an admirable experiment – a shift away from the conventional Asian focus on rote memorization education – and I chose to be part of that.
How has ISAK impacted your life?
ISAK has challenged me to consider what is most important and make it part of my daily routine.
How has your decision to attend boarding school affected your relationship with your parents?
Not much! We still keep in touch quite often. Surprisingly, I do feel slightly closer to them now that I am away.
What is your favorite part of daily life at ISAK?
The freedom. I am free to present my opinions, free to challenge existing principles, free to manage my time in my own way and much more!
What have you learned about yourself by being part of the ISAK community?
I’ve learned that there is so much more to a person’s worth than the money they have.
