Angie – Ghana | Japan
Class of 2017
Why did you choose to attend a boarding school?
I wanted to be closer to my family in Japan (because I am half Japanese), and boarding school was the way for me to do that.
Why did you choose to attend ISAK?
I found ISAK because it has the IB program, which is part of the reason why I chose it. However, I chose ISAK out of all the IB schools in Japan because of its diversity and the leadership practice that it has.
How has ISAK impacted your life?
ISAK has impacted my life by giving me a chance at change. It’s not so often you come across a school like this, with its location, curriculum, diversity and so forth. I wanted to be a part of something different, and ISAK was exactly what I was looking for.
How has your decision to attend boarding school affected your relationship with your parents?
It has made me value my father more for giving me the opportunity to study here. Even though we are on the opposite sides of the world, I still feel close to him because I know he supports me in everything that I do here at ISAK.
What is your favorite part of daily life at ISAK?
Being surrounded by friends everyday is definitely one of the best aspects of ISAK. By friends, I don’t just mean students, but teachers and staff as well.
What have you learned about yourself by being part of the ISAK community?
Being a part of ISAK has made me realize that there is a lot that I can improve on, not just in academics but in my social life as well.
