Established in 1968, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) is a two-year advanced secondary school diploma that is considered by many to be the gold standard in high school education.
The IB DP curriculum is taught in schools in more than 140 countries, and is recognized by many of the most prestigious colleges and universities around the world, including Harvard, Oxford and MIT.
All Grade 11 – 12 students at ISAK study the IB DP curriculum. To learn about the IB courses offered at ISAK, please see our Curriculum page.
The Diploma Programme and College Admissions
The IB DP is well-respected by admissions officers at colleges and universities worldwide, who consider IB students to have an exceptionally strong academic base and are ready for the challenges of university education. More than 100 countries recognize the IB DP as a university entrance certificate. Some universities also offer college credit or advanced standing to students who have successfully completed the IB DP. Additionally, a small number of top-level Japanese universities are beginning to accept IB DP results in place of traditional entrance exams.
