ISAK Head of School
On behalf of the entire ISAK community, I would like to welcome you to our website. We appreciate you taking a moment to learn about our extraordinary school; please take your time as you explore the various facets of our program and learn about life at ISAK.
As ISAK’s Founding Head of School, it was my great pleasure to welcome our first class of 49 change-makers to ISAK in 2014. Representing 19 home countries, these students led the way as they embraced the ISAK mission to explore new frontiers in service for the greater good of Asia and beyond. Now, three years later, over 150 students from 39 countries around the world call ISAK home!
While we’ve experienced rapid growth in the past few years, our commitment to our mission and vision has never wavered. We continue to empower our students to be mindful, to take action in the face of discomfort, and to use diversity as a strength. This philosophy enables our students to develop their own residential management rules, form their own clubs and activities, and create a campus environment that respects every member of our community.
I am excited to lead the ISAK community forward as we continue to create a culture for young people that rewards students who want to practice leadership in every facet of their lives. At its core, ISAK is a place where young people are encouraged to think beyond themselves and develop a habit of taking action. We are confident that all students will find ISAK a very welcoming community that will prepare them for a lifetime of personal and professional fulfillment — and success!
I am often asked what makes ISAK different from other schools. My immediate response is that at many schools, students think they can change the world, but at ISAK, students believe they will change the world. This confidence is nurtured on a daily basis in our intimate setting; students feel empowered to be creative and are authentically involved in the development of their school culture.
Our faculty not only represent the best in their fields, they are also fully committed to helping students understand they have one life to realize their potential and become catalysts for positive change. Faculty members live on campus and are an integral part of residential life, functioning as mentors and getting to know each student. We take the time to ask our students what they care about and encourage them to develop their strengths.
Coupled with this, all ISAK students develop real-world projects to improve the lives of others, both in Japan and abroad. Every day our student projects impact lives and create positive change! We are fortunate to have our student leaders enjoy the support of not only our world-class faculty, but also business leaders, entrepreneurs, and many of our distinguished school founders.
We understand students and parents have many choices when it comes to selecting an educational institution, and we appreciate your interest in ISAK. As you can see when you read through our website, we take pride in knowing our students and loving our students.
